For the first time in six years, Anna will have a new mayor. Longtime incumbent Kenneth Pelham was defeated by Councilman Darren Driskell in Saturday's election, with Driskell gaining almost 55 percent of the vote. Place 1 incumbent Mike Crist was re-elected with nearly 62 percent of the vote, beating challenger Timothy Bates. Place 3 incumbent Keith Green was re-elected with no opponent, and Marc Hendricks was elected to the vacant Place 5 seat with no opponent.

Dorman, Liquor Lose in Melissa |

For the first time in a decade, Melissa will have a new mayor. Longtime incumbent David Dorman was beaten by challenger Reed Greer in Saturday's election, 661-415. Challenger Micki Jobson finished third with 112 votes. Melissa voters also said no to local liquor sales for the third time in three years, defeating the measure with 59 percent of the vote. William Farmer defeated Aaron Chowning in the race for the Place 4 seat on the City Council, earning more than 54 percent of the vote. Sharon Weideman was re-elected to the Place 2 seat with no opponent.

Anna ISD voters chose one new face and one incumbent in Saturday's school board election. Billy Deragon defeated Place 2 incumbent Jeff Frazier by garnering more than 56 percent of the vote. Alan Walters was re-elected to the Place 6 seat, defeating Becky Woodard by gaining more than 56 percent of the vote.
